| A blend of reading offering a balance of the daily market hubbub, and business and economic news of California, The States, and Europe. Today's Markets: This is Yahoo!'s market overview page and consists of a synopsis of the day's action including charts and market internals for the Dow and NASDAQ, as well as most actives. Numerous links are embedded within the page permitting the viewer to jump to detail as desired. The final section at the bottom reports economic statistics released during the day such as factory utilization, the Consumer Price Index, unemployment statistics, and all the rest. Wall Street Journal: Everyone knows this is THE business page in The States ... some think worldwide. Anyone serious about undertaking a business career should have this in their daily palate of fare. End of story. The Economist: One of the most highly regarded periodicals on Earth, The Economist has considerable value beyond its literary excellence because it offers a non-U.S. view ... primarily a European bent. This has import for the serious business professional because of globalization and the need to "step out" from States-based myopia and see the world as others do. Los Angeles Times Business: Turning our view back toward home, this is the preeminent "page" on the West Coast and frequently has California business news and economic events that get missed in The Journal. Since we live in what is the equivalent of the fifth largest economy on the planet, we would be remiss not to pay attention to what's up in our back yard. |
